Afternoon Tea

We decided to hold a tea party with a difference. We got together to discuss and plan the event and thought "A Ritzy tea party" would be a good idea. Tables for 4, white linen table covers, bone china and a posy of flowers on each table – so far so good. “Wouldn't it be good to have 3 tier cake stands as well?”  With fifteen tables, where would we find 15 cake stands? We discovered that 3 individually sized plates raised and glued on top of 2 small wine glasses was the answer. With that done we were ready to start.

We decorated the hall. Small delicious sandwiches, sausage rolls, cream scones and individual cake treats were served.  We had a wonderful afternoon with a flower demonstration on how to take a bunch of flowers and magic them into a display for our homes. Everyone had a lovely tea and a raffle including raffling the flowers donated by the lady demonstrator. To round off the event the table posy was presented to a lady off each table. Exhausted but happy we had a very successful afternoon.

Summer BBQ at Togston

We had another BBQ at Meg and Mike's. The weather was not as warm as it could have been but at least it wasn't raining!

Everyone brought food and drink to share and it gave us all a nice excuse to idle the afternoon away chatting with friends.

It was good to have the children with us this year. Catherine, John and family have recently joined our church and their children enjoyed themselves playing on the lawn as well as playing croquet.

Springwatch

The unusual mating call of the male eider duck has been captured by a wildlife sound recordist from Northumberland for BBC Springwatch.

Chris Watson travels the world recording the voices of nature, but the eider duck can be found on his doorstep here at Amble on the north east coast.

BBC Springwatch came to Amble to record the ducks and also to visit our church to talk to Diane about St Cuthbert and his eider ducks as seen in our east window. Locally the eider ducks are known as cuddie's ducks.

To find out more click Springwatch and enjoy!

The King James Bible

As part of the celebrations to mark
400 years of the Authorised Version
(The King James Bible) it will be read
across Newcastle Diocese during Lent.

A group of us got together and read some passages from St Marks Gosple to a few suprised people in Amble.

It was a cold day to be standing out in the street but we got warm in the supermarkets.

At least it wasn't raining!
